Child Protective Investigations Division
The Child Protection Investigations Division (CPID) is part of the Investigative Bureau.
The division was formed to provide for the child protective and criminal investigations of abuse,
neglect, abandonment, and sexual abuse complaints committed against our county’s children. These
investigations are conducted by child protection specialists and law enforcement personnel.
The division consists of two sections; the Crimes Against Children Section (CAC) and the Child Protection Section (CPS).
CAC consists of three units, Crimes Against Children Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, and the Sex Offender Unit.
CPS also consists of three units; the Child Protection Specialist Unit, the Training/Support Unit, and the Analytical Unit.
Both of these sections are dedicated to the goal of assisting Manatee County families in crisis, as well as, recognizing/reducing
child endangerment and preserving family continuity.
The Child Protection Investigations Division incorporates the functions of both sections to conduct
thorough and complete investigations into allegations of child abuse, neglect, abandonment, and sexual abuse.
This combination provides for a well-rounded approach for ensuring child safety.
