The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office Fleet section is responsible for the purchase, maintenance, repair, and final disposition of
over 870 vehicles within the agency. For FY2016, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office drove those vehicles over 8.3 million miles,
which is approximately 22,800 miles per day. Our mission is to provide the safest, most reliable vehicles possible to support the
deputies and agency staff. The Fleet staff deals directly with state and local automobile dealers, parts suppliers, repair
facilities and body shops to accomplish its mission.

- (5) Automotive Service Technicians
- (1) Administrative Assistant
- (1) Parts Assistant
Fleet Maintenance operates from two locations. There is a main Fleet facility located in the southwest area of Manatee County and
a satellite Fleet facility located at the Manatee County Central Jail. Deputies and Staff may choose the most convenient location
for service as both garages are capable of handling any mechanical issue. Hours of operation at the main Fleet facility are
Monday through Friday 7:00AM – 11:00PM which accommodates all three Patrol shifts. In addition, vehicles may be taken to
certain local repair facilities for routine maintenance as approved by MCSO and the Fleet maintenance section. An on-call
automotive technician is available to support any Fleet need that may arise when the garages are closed.
Technicians hold various ASE certifications including four technicians who are ASE Master Technician Certified. All technicians
are Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) certified. Combined, the Fleet Services staff has more than 190 years of experience in
the automotive industry.
Fleet Maintenance has enacted an aggressive preventive maintenance program that routinely finds and repairs minor vehicle
issues before they manifest into larger, more expensive repairs. For FY2016, Fleet personnel processed 4,435 work orders
and worked over 19,000 man-hours safety mishap free. Vehicle repairs totaled $707,000, for an average of only $809 per vehicle.
