The Information Technologies Section is composed of the Computer Applications and
Telecommunications Unit.
This team is responsible for the establishment, evaluation and maintenance of all
computer information systems, security, and software for the Manatee County Sheriff's
Office. Some of their responsibilities include analyzing and defining the computer
needs of the Sheriff's Office, coordinating efforts with Manatee County Data Information
Services, and vendors for all computerized information systems, The team ensures
the proper utilization of all computer and manual systems, does systems administration,
and makes appropriate recommendations on future use of automation.
The technicians are also responsible for the installation of computers and telephones,
switchboards, and telephonic switches. In cooperation with the Systems Analyst,
the technicians make recommendations on the purchase, alteration, and management
of all automated equipment.
