Person/Suspect Info

While Detective Thomas Kaczmarek was off-duty coaching his son’s baseball team, he heard what appeared to be a car accident behind the fields. He left the team with the other coaches and went to see how he could help. When he arrived on scene and realized it was a single car, single passenger accident. The car was in several pieces and fluids were spilling everywhere. He was able to force the door open and get the driver, who was in and out of consciousness, out of the car. Detective Kaczmarek tended to the driver and was able to get him somewhat alert. Bystanders called 911 but Detective Kaczmarek took the phone to ensure dispatchers were getting correct information. After getting the driver safely to the curb, he complained about his neck and that he felt dizzy. The driver was bleeding profusely from a head injury and Detective Kaczmarek was able to remove the driver’s shirt and get him to hold it on to his head. EMS arrived on scene and took over treatment.

While at a family function, he took it upon himself to check an accident that took him away from his family to ensure the safety of others. He kept the driver calm, alert, stable and safe until EMS could respond for which Detective Thomas Kaczmarek is awarded the agency’s Deputy of the Month for January. Congratulations!
