November Deputy of the Month - Deputy Brooke Parks-Boldin

In August, Deputy Brooke Parks-Boldin and her family were at the Manatee County Fairgrounds for the first weigh-in for the steer show. While there, she heard a loud crash and found a child had cut a rope on about five cattle panels, each weighing approximately 85 pounds, and the panels had collapsed on the child. Without hesitation, she sent her son to get help and then jumped a six foot fence and lifted all five panels at one time off the child. She held them up until someone else could take them, so she could check on the child. The entire time she was lifting the panels, she was being stung by wasps that were swarming all around the area. She remained calm and helped calm the mother and child until EMS arrived.

Even though she was spending the day with her family, she didn’t hesitate to take action in a dangerous situation. She acted quickly and saved the child from injuries that could have been life threatening. For her actions, Deputy Brooke Parks Boldin is awarded the agency’s Deputy of the Month for November.
