Person/Suspect Info
Employee of the Month - Michelle Joyce

CPS was working a case where a family had failed to abide by a safety plan that would protect a young victim from abuse so the child had to be placed in foster care. The child was inconsolable and frightened to be put into a home with strangers.

Victim Advocate Michell Joyce was called and responded. Michell was able to console the child and stayed with her during the process. When asked if she could go to the foster home with the child; Michell didn’t hesitate, even when it was learned the foster parent wouldn’t be available until 6:30 that evening. Michell took the child and assisted her with the transition into the foster home. She stayed at the foster home until she felt the child was okay and comfortable.

This type of incident isn’t a typical one for Victim Advocates to respond to, but when called; she did not hesitate to give her assistance. For her kindness that calmed the frightened child and her extra efforts to ensure the child had a comfortable transition into her new home, Michell Joyce is awarded the agency’s Employee of the Month for November.
