Person/Suspect Info
In 2017, Property & Evidence Processor Amanda Russo was organizing and reviewing CD’s associated with criminal cases. She identified a case from 2009 which involved the death of a four year old child. The investigation appeared to have a Capias Request written, but the State Attorney indicated they had no record of receiving it. Amanda then contacted Crimes Against Children and the investigation was reviewed to see if charges could be sought. Detective Moreland determined there was a criminal violation and set up meetings with the State Attorney’s Office to collaborate on the investigation. In June of 2019, the SAO notified they were ready to file criminal charges. The investigation took almost two years to complete, which lead to the arrest of the suspect for the murder of her four year old daughter.

Because of her attention to detail, this review and prosecution gave the silenced victim a voice and justice. For her diligent efforts, Amanda Russo is awarded the agency’s Employee of the
Year.
